Naturopathic Medicine

Like Medical Doctors, Naturopathic Doctors are trained extensively in clinical sciences and diagnostics. The primary difference is that Naturopathy focuses on the whole person, and seeks to identify and treat the underlying imbalances, rather than suppressing symptoms. Naturopaths use safe and effective natural therapies that the body can process easily, and which can also be used along with prescription drugs and surgery when necessary. Naturopathic medicine plays an important role in healthcare by providing alternative approaches to chronic and acute disease, helping patients find their optimal health through balance and restoration.

During your visits, we work with you to build lifestyle and nutritional habits that will sustain you. Your medical history, sleep, diet, medications, exercise, goals, and all symptoms are reviewed, labs and xrays are ordered, and additional referrals are made as needed.  Our priority is improving your health by listening, educating, and advocating for you and what your needs are. A personalized, written treatment plan is provided to you as your roadmap, giving you the knowledge, motivation and direction you need to get your health back on track.

Although Naturopaths in Washington are able to prescribe all drugs except narcotics, Dr. Polley uses natural substances (like bio-identical hormones), herbs, nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes almost exclusively, with conventional prescription drugs as a last, and temporary, resort. She has helped many patients wean off their dependence on prescription drugs.

Is Naturopathy right for me?

The answer to this comes from asking these questions:
  • Are you dissatisfied with the care you are getting from your PCP or other specialists?
  • Do you feel like something is missing?
  • Do you feel that your doctors aren't spending enough time with you, and listening to what you are telling them?
  • Do you feel that your doctors do not take the time to educate you about your condition and recommended treatment?
  • Do you feel like you are not improving?
  • Are you getting sufficient answers?
